Intercourse & Intelligence

Super interesting study about the bell curve relationship of intelligence and sexual activity, as well as comparing percentages of virgins across different universities and majors.

Start.
Interesting comment on the article: "I think the result was actually that people on both ends of the bell curve have less sex than people in the middle. This sorta makes sense from an assortative-mating POV. People tend to mate with people of roughly equal intelligence. When you get to the outer edge of the bell curve, there're many fewer people of roughly equal intelligence, and you're far less likely to run across them randomly."

David H: The fact that people with an IQ below 100 are allowed to have sex is horrifying to me.

Khouri: The fact that people with an IQ below 100 are allowed to have sex doesn't horrify me, just that they could procreate from said union does! What will that do to the human genetic pool? Oh, no... wait, that actually explains a LOT.

Gregory C: HAHA! This is great. I was constantly going, paragraph by paragraph, theory by theory, from "Wait. What? No!" to "There ya go, that makes more sense." I really do agree with the HYPOTHESIS (I was taught by an intelligent person to never use theory where there has been no repeated positive experimentation) that it's simply an issue of partner-attraction. There are of course outliers, but speaking in general terms: We make a point to not have sex with freaks in high school (and usually beyond that point, too). Anybody with an IQ below 70 and above 130 is either mentally handicapped (not my initial word choice, i admit) or a genius, respectively. Both of these groups are shunned in high school. Q.E.D.

Khouri: I also HYPOTHESIZE it might have something to do with social... awareness/skills/intelligence. People of very low intelligence and very high intelligence (for example, autistics) don't tend to have fabulous people skills, which might cause issues for "getting laid."

Gregory C: You forgot the "Q.E.D."
